JTD №8: Enfilade Update & Transducer in Use

Enfilade is now entering its third year of (seemingly endless) development. We recently updated the version available at FutureFonts with a new optical size: Micro.

After years of staring at the typeface, it was decided that the “Tiny” optical size just wasn’t working at the smallest sizes (around 12–16 point). Enfilade Micro is a little wider and has a little more optical tricks than Enfilade Tiny. Personally, I like using it at larger sizes because of all the character in those optical corrections.

We’re in the midst of kerning everything so Enfilade should be wrapping up later this year (hopefully in a few months). The obliques are also in development but those won’t take as long as the rest of the typeface.
In the meantime, check it out over at FutureFonts.

There’s been a bunch of cool Transducer uses lately:
First, Hypequake unified Evercoat’s automotive paint products with Transducer.

Second Melody, a brand agency based in New Jersey, used Transducer when they designed the environmental graphics for Students 2 Science’s new Apollo Technology Center. Students 2 Science provides STEM education to students throughout New Jersey.

ECUMaster makes engine management modules for motorsports and recently started using Transducer for their UI and overall branding. This is definitely one of the uses I imagined for Transducer—I’m glad to see someone else agrees.

Until next time,
James
